How do I get free books?

To receive free books from the San Diego Book Project, simply email us with details about your program and how you’re working to promote literacy. Please note that our books are intended for charitable use only and cannot be resold. If you’re located in the San Diego area, we can arrange a pickup or possible delivery. For those outside San Diego, shipping might be possible based on costs and available funding.

How do I donate books?

We especially welcome books for children from kindergarten through 12th grade in good condition. We do not take magazines, textbooks, test prep, encyclopedias, dictionaries, manuals, damaged books, and other books that are less in demand. Please send us an email with the type and amount of books you have and we will let you know how to get it to us.

What kind of reading and writing programs do you offer, and how can I sign up?

Our programs are designed for students who lack access to books and similar learning opportunities. We organize free book fairs, small-group reading and writing workshops, and a summer reading program. For information on upcoming events, please check the “News” tab and follow our social media pages. If you’d like us to host an event at your location, please email us for more details.

How can I support the San Diego Book Project?

The San Diego Book Project is entirely volunteer-run, and everything we accomplish is made possible by donations. Your support is crucial in helping us continue our mission. Please consider donating by clicking on the “Donate” tab. Every contribution makes a difference!
