How do I get the books?
To obtain free books from the San Diego Book Project, send us an email and tell us about your program and what you are doing to promote literacy.
How do I know if I qualify to get free books?
If you’re local to the San Diego area we can arrange for either a pickup from our facility or a delivery. If you’re not located in San Diego we may be able to arrange for shipping, depending on the cost and funding. It’s important to us that our books are used for charitable purposes only; they cannot resold. We will let you know.
When I pick up books, should I bring my own boxes?
Normally, we have some boxes available, but it is better to bring your own.
Can I bring people to help me?
Yes, but children under 13 are not permitted.
If it turns out I can’t the use the books, can I bring them back.
Yes, but this has seldom occurred.
How do I donate books?
Send us an email and we can arrange a date and time to either meet you at our warehouse or to pick up the books from you.
What books qualify for donating?
Our preference is for children’s books, but we also donate general fiction/nonfiction to a variety of organizations. We have not had much luck in giving away old textbooks, encyclopedias, computer manuals and the like, so prefer not to get more of those.
